We are seeking an RF Design Engineer to work at our client site in Stevenage. We need a team player who can use their initiative and has a real passion for electronic engineering. The role would ideally suit someone who is comfortable carrying out hands on testing and modifications to boards while having a strong background in RF design.  

• RF Design engineer with proven practical design experience for cutting edge defence products.
• You'll be working on the research, design and testing of cutting-edge radio-frequency technology for integration into complex weapons systems, with a focus on utilising your hands on experience to carry out modifications or rapid prototypes where required.

• BSc in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
• A lower-level qualification such as HNC would be acceptable with significant demonstrable relevant experience performing the same/similar work

• Proven practical RF (component level) design and testing of RF circuits across a wide frequency range (eg, 30MHz to 30GHz, including LNA Amplifier, High Power Amplifier, filter, local oscillator, synthesiser, modulator design etc)
• Excellent practical skills including soldering, fault finding and the use of RF test equipment including Spectrum Analysers, Power Meters & VNAs
• Ability to perform design proving tests and trials in the onsite laboratory
• Good knowledge of digital, analogue and power supply design
• Fully conversant with manufacturing techniques and capabilities, including design for manufacture and test
• Computer literate, Microsoft Windows, Office with particular emphasis on Word & Excel
• Great communication skills with ability to communicate at all levels of the business modifying the tone and message according to the audience

• Minimum of 5 years (10 preferred) demonstrable relevant experience
• RF design experience for harsh environments (EMC, vibration, thermal)
• Experience using RF design tools (eg Microwave Office), including layout.
• Working as part of a team or under own initiative as needed
• Hands on testing
• PCB Rework

• Candidate should be able/prepared to work at our client’s site (3 days per week) in Stevenage.
• Hold existing SC clearance, and due to security restrictions be a UK National
