We are currently recruiting a Lead Tooling/Mechanical Design Engineer to support one of our Marine customers on a rolling contract. The hourly rate is negotiable based on experience, seniority, etc. The role is outside of IR35. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering a high-quality service to our client and will be expected to be proactive and self-motivated in delivering the targeted outputs to support the product.

The successful candidate will be based wither in the customer site and will report directly to the Programme Delivery Lead.

Responsibilities

  • The role will be to develop & manage current production processes to improve Quality, Cost &Time whilst supporting planning and the introduction of new products and processes.
  • Good CAD knowledge in creating both 2D and 3D manufacturing data sets. (Modelling/detail drawings/Bill of Materials)
  • Liaise with ‘in-house’ production to fully understand the end requirement and function.
  • Create Tooling specification and requirements document.
  • Liaise with and support design and manufacture supply chain.
  • Attend design reviews, ‘Factory Acceptance Tests’ (FAT), ‘Site Acceptance Tests’ (SAT) and Tool trials where applicable.

Essential skills

  • CAD proficient
  • Proactive ‘Team Player’ with a focus on delivery and quality who is able to work and act autonomously.
  • Ability to liaise at all levels of the business management levels.
  • Excellent communication skills and decision maker.

Experience

  • Knowledge of Tooling and Production process.
  • Practical problem solving and communication skills.
  • Planning, schedule control & project management.
  • Good communication skills.
